Below are a selection of testimonials from students of IMCS

“Neil is a very knowledgeable and encouraging instructor, which reflects in the quality and humility of his students. I am finding IMCS an extremely effective and realistic system of personal protection. The syllabus is a well structured system, which covers a wide range of armed (baton, staff, knife, sword and flexible weaponry) and un-armed (evasive actions, rolls & break-falls, kicks, punches, joint locks and grappling) combat methods. The variation in the IMCS syllabus not only keeps it challenging and enjoyable, but it has increased my confidence, fitness levels, technical ability and knowledge of personal protection."

"I recently started private tuition with Neil of IMCS, as a 34 yr old with no formal training in any martial arts, I am very impressed with the system of self defence that Neil teaches. It is presented as a general ethos as much as a martial art, and obviously has had a lot of thought put into it. I personally find the system very realistic for this day and age, and easily applicable to situations that I have been in throughout my life. With private tuition I have achieved a lot in a relatively short space of time (since end of Jan 06), and Neil is a very vigilant and encouraging tutor, who obviously has a huge knowledge in various fighting arts."

"I've been training in IMCS for over 2 years now & I'm really enjoying the interesting yet extremely effective (& often simple) techniques, which, unlike some systems are perfect for real self defence. The variation in the syllabus keeps it challenging & I like the fact that the student must learn extra techniques/defences that aren't in the syllabus to pass the higher grades, this teaches us that techniques are not set in stone & can be modified to suit the individual &/or situation. The training in weapons is something new to me (coming from a tae-kwon-do back ground) so is a particular challenge, using sticks, swords, long staff, knives & even straps improves coordination & adds to the students fighting skills. Can't wait for the next training session!"

"Private tuition has allowed me to accelerate my learning in a range of keys areas. The mixture of intensive and technical teaching methods has given me the opportunity to grasp concepts at a much more lively pace, promoting my individual development & then application of this knowledge base much faster. Its enjoyable but also productive, after leaving class i really feel progression in my training, which gives a great sense of achievement."

"IMCS has not only increased my confidence, fitness levels & ability to self-defend but also has been a fantastic learning experience. Right from the outset the constructive & professional tuition has provided me with a thirst to learn more & further improve my current regime. Tailored and comprehensive lessons are provided for all regardless of your skill level or confidence. The lesson schedule also happens to be extremely convenient. All in all it is proving to be a very rewarding investment."

"I have attended IMCS classes for a number of years now and have found them extremely beneficial in terms of developing my fitness levels and an all round knowledge of combat techniques. The tuition is of a very high standard, making both the syllabus and ranking system manageable, but physically and mentally testing. The key benefit of IMCS is that all aspects of combat are competently covered; from unarmed to long staff, from flexible weapons to ground fighting. I have found that there is never a class the same as the previous one which, combining that with the potential for learning a vast amount of techniques there is never a dull moment."

"I still look forward to each lesson with eager anticipation. The techniques taught are on the most part quite easy to learn but very effective in an actual combat situation. Having come from a traditional ju jitsu background, it is very refreshing to learn techniques which are not sport/competition orientated but are purely for self defence. The variety of weapons and unarmed combat skills we are taught is very extensive, and as we progress through our grades we are encouraged to adapt these skills to ever changing scenarios. I can see myself training with IMCS for a very long time."
